ABOUT MAURA SEGAL
Maura Segal’s inspiration is drawn from modern architecture and minimalism. In her work, Segal juxtapose layers of paper with acrylic paint and a layer of thinly hand-cut paper strips insinuating the volume of three-dimensional sculptures. Maura Segal explores the contrast between negative and positive, the counterpoint between lines and shapes and the coexistence of two and three dimensional planes.
Segal received her BFA in Graphic Design from California State University. Segal’s work is in many private and public collections including the Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital, Los Angeles and the Albamarie facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.
